Daylily

UACES: AR Agriculture: Commercial Horticulture: Daylily Rust

2001: Field-grown daylilies at a central Arkansas commercial grower were rated on September 4, 2001 by 4 individuals separated into 2 teams. A rating scale of 1-5 was used with 1 being plants with foliage free of any rust pustules and a 5 severe rust infection. Ratings of one-half a unit (e.g. 1.5) were used.

2002: Field-grown daylilies at the same grower as the 2001 study were rated on November 14, 2002 (i.e. much later than the 2001 evaluation). 6 individuals met and discussed the symptoms for an hour prior to agreeing on an evaluation scale. The scale and symptoms were documented in photographs. The scale was a 1-5 scale, with 1 indicating absolutely no rust pustules found. Ratings were recorded in whole numbers (e.g. 1.5 not allowed). Each plant was evaluated by 2 individuals.
